With the leaves gone and the days shorter, now is the perfect time to spruce up your home with some easy DIY projects sure to get you in the spirit. Check out these ideas and get ready to have some fun.
DIY Holiday With A Seasonal Wreath
Get creative this holiday season and create a great first impression of your home with a DIY Holiday homemade wreath. All you need are scissors, some wire or string, greenery and a wreath base, like a wire hoop or a simple grapevine wreath. Next, put some of those branches you trimmed off your tree to use by affixing them to the base. Add ornaments or elaborate bows for a pop of Christmas, or keep things seasonal with some artificial berries. Added bonus: you’ll get to enjoy that fresh pine scent every time you open your door.
Sure, candles are nice, but there’s something about this scent — made from ingredients you probably already have sitting in your cupboard — that just lifts your spirits. First, collect the ingredients: cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, cranberries and an orange. Peel and quarter the orange and place it in a saucepan along with the pieces of orange peel. Add a half cup of cranberries, one tablespoon of cloves and three sticks of cinnamon to the pan and fill it with water. Place the pan on a burner set to the lowest setting and your home will be smelling great in no time.
DIY Holiday Personalized Gift Wrap
If you’re the kind of person who likes to put presents out under the tree well before Dec. 25, why not incorporate the presents into your decor? Create your very own personalized gift wrap to make the most of out those boxes. Start with a roll of paper from your local arts and crafts store. The color is entirely up to you. Decorate the paper with some gold tape, creating stripes or other geometric patterns. Wrap your presents using the paper and finish with some gold ribbon. To add an extra bit of holiday cheer, top the packages with a holly stem or a couple pine branches.
With shopping to do, parties to get to and family to entertain, no one has time for a stuffy nose this time of year. Start your day off right with these DIY Holiday homemade steamers in your morning shower. All you need is two cups of baking soda, one cup of citric acid, one cup of cornstarch, some water and your favorite essential oils. Eucalyptus is best for opening the sinuses. Place the baking soda, citric acid and cornstarch in a bowl and mix well. Now add water tablespoon by tablespoon — about 3-5 tablespoons total — until it feels like damp sand. Add a couple drops of essential oils to the mix and press the mixture into a silicone ice cube tray. Leave the tray to set overnight and, when you wake up, your steamers will be ready to go!
