Your exterior is the first thing your buyers see when they arrive to your home for open house. The last thing you want them to see is an unsightly garden, cluttered porch and filthy siding. Luckily, there are ways to boost your curb appeal for your buyers.

Wash Your Exterior

Boost your curb appeal by power washing the front, back and siding of your home, as a buildup of rain, snow and leaves can leave it looking unsightly. If you do not have a power washer, you may be able to rent one or borrow one from a friend. Otherwise, your hose may at least leave it looking presentable, especially if the nozzle has various settings.

Boost Your Curb Appeal By Cleaning Up Your Yard

Your front and backyard should be clear of toys, tools and other outdoor gear, as well as weeds and dead flowers or branches. If you have pets that go outside, be sure you clean up after them before your buyers arrive. It never hurts to rake up leaves and straighten up your outdoor furniture.

Take Care of Your Landscape

It is not uncommon for your landscape to lose its appeal, especially when it is too cold to mow the lawn or tend to your garden. However, the sight can be a turn-off for buyers. Give yourself enough time to make your landscape and garden appealing before your open house.

Boost Your Curb Appeal When You Upgrade Details As Needed

Upgrade certain aspects of your exterior as needed, such as your mailbox, address numbers and porch light. You may also want to add a fresh coat of paint to your front door or exterior. If you still feel like something is missing, consider a plant on either side of your front door.

When you take the time to make sure your exterior is presentable, you are sure to make a good impression on your buyers.
